Science Fair Information
The date, place and time
The Science Fair will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday 13 April 2024 at the Arts and Recreation Centre (“ARC”) at Camana Bay, Grand Cayman.
Doors will open at ARC at 8:00 a.m. for project set-ups, with judging by our teams of Science Fair judges to commence promptly thereafter. Judging will be completed by noon or shortly after, with a lunch provided for the contestants free of charge. The public are welcome to attend throughout. Teardown of projects is to be completed by 2:00 p.m.
An awards banquet hosted by Rotary Central, and catered by Mise en Place will be held at ARC commencing that evening at 6:00 p.m. with the winners announced, prizes awarded, and a keynote speaker.
Those planning to attend the awards banquet are requested to indicate their intention as part of the online registration process.
How do you enter?
Once you’ve decided on a project and the project category and discussed it with your science teacher and your parents, just fill out the registration form online.
When we have received your online registration we will email you to confirm your registration for the Science Fair.

Think of topics you’ve studied in science class, look at those which you find most interesting and exciting and are curious about then, ask yourself a question about the topic for which you don’t have an answer. Remember, keep the project simple and clear. If you have difficulty with ideas for your project, speak to your science teacher, or look for ideas on the internet including on these website:
Judging – the “Scientific method”
Please remember that your project will be judged and scored by the Science Fair judges based on the criteria and steps of the Scientific Method. Your science teacher can explain the Scientific Method and a helpful explanation is available here.
Your science project should address and reflect the following steps of the Scientific Method:
Step 1 – Question.
Step 2 – Research.
Step 3 – Hypothesis.
Step 4 – Experiment.
Step 5 – Observations.
Step 6 – Results/Conclusion.
Step 7 – Communicate, present/share your results.
The Judges’ Scoring Sheet for the Science Fair is based on that made available by the Discovery Channel and is focused on the Scientific Method. A copy of the Judges’ Scoring Sheet detailing the criteria on which your science project will be judged is available here.

All students and budding young scientists are welcome and encouraged to participate in our Science Fair.
As Rotarians we are glad to host and sponsor the Science Fair annually as we have since 2006. We believe the Science Fair provides a valuable service to the community in encouraging our young people to explore and expand their interest in science and provides them with an opportunity to showcase and present their work and their discoveries not only to our judges, but also to their teachers, friends and family.
When we have received your online registration we will email you to confirm your registration for the Science Fair. In our experience, participation in the Science Fair is an immensely rewarding experience and one very much enjoyed by our enthusiastic young scientists, and equally by our judges and our Rotary Club!
